Community Partner:  Common Roots

Burlington Wine & Food is pleased to announce a partnership with a new beneficiary this year.

Common Roots connects farmers, educators, youth,

and community members to build a sustainable

future through food and land stewardship education.

By collectively growing food for their programs and

food shelves, they celebrate the soil and soul of

community.  Their regenerative farming practices

provide food and soil security nurturing our common roots.

Common Roots grew out of a gathering of parents, teachers, and farmers who originally met in 2005 to discuss health, nutrition, and food systems. Today, they are a 501(c)3 non-profit community organization connecting farmers, educators, youth, families, and the wider community in building a sustainable future through their education and service programs.

Their programs include a farmstand in South Burlington (which also features fresh produce at the South Burlington Food Shelf) from early May to Thanksgiving, educational programs about nutritious foods in local schools, internships and summer camps focused on healthy eating, environmental awareness and land stewardship, "Farm to Fork Tuesdays" and "Flatbread Fridays," featuring healthy prepared meals for sale, and a farm-to-table event space at The Wheeler House, available for catered events.
